Implemented Human-Centered Design methods to discover opportunities to improve the Crew Module. I designed, tested, and manufactured solutions that had a direct impact on the Astronauts’ safety and overall space flight experience.

Design-Thinking Process

• Problem:
  How might we satisfy the stakeholders’ unmet needs at this critical stage of certification for commercial flight?

• Definition:
  Started by understanding the current stage in the development process, as well as what requirements needed to be met for both NASA and Boeing.

  

  

  

  Key Stakeholders: NASA, the Astronaut Crew, and Boeing

• Prototype, Test, Refine
  Conducted usability studies and worked directly with the Astronauts to understand their needs and deliver a product that both served its function and was also desirable.

  

  

  

• Solution
  After several iterations and co-designing sessions with the stakeholders, a custom-made mechanism was developed to ensure that the vehicle is ready for human space flight.
